As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to play first trumpet in the Icelandic symphony, with a Roberto Baggio mullet.

What superpower would you have and why?
I’d love to be super strong, just because it would be fun.

What piece of advice would you have for aspiring female footballers?
Always believe in yourself. Set your own goals on regular basis, work hard to achieve them and never settle. Always work hard. Enjoy every moment.

When did you start playing football and why?
I started playing around 9, because it was so much fun. I watched football all the time, even from a young age, and I went to the playground to practice, wanting to be like the best in the world.

When did you realise you could play at this level?
My sophomore year in college.

What are your strengths on the pitch?
Set plays, duels, passing game and positioning.

What are your strengths off the pitch?
I’d say my strength is that I know my weaknesses.

What are your hobbies outside of football?
Sports in general – watching football, coaching football, strength training, boxing, handball, hiking, biking… I also play the trumpet and I am trying to be able to play “party” guitar.

Have you won any silverware in your career and if so, what and when?
Icelandic champion 6 times. Icelandic cup champion 4 times. Swedish cup champion 2010.

Edda has also enjoyed a highly-decorated international career, making her U17 debut in the mid-1990s. After appearing for the U19 and U21s, Edda arrives at Chelsea with almost senior 100 international caps under her belt, having also featured for Iceland at Euro 2009.
