Former President passes away

The LEAGUE are sad to announce the passing of a former President and current Vice President of the League JOHN ELSOM. JOHN would be familiar with the longer serving members of the League but would be probably remembered more for his long service to Leicester City FC firstly as a director and subsequently as Chairman from 1998 until 2002. Leicestershire based throughout most of his life he was a highly successful businessman with a passion for football. Whilst based in his home town of  Loughborough he refereed on the Loughborough Alliance, formally the North Leics League now the Leicestershire County League. A passionate Leicester City fan from his days at rugby playing Loughborough Grammar School, those who knew him realised he was destined for high places at some stage in his life.

Retiring to Bridlington in the early 2000's he took on a director role at Grimsby Town until 2013 when he stepped down to become the club President.

He leaves behind his super supportive wife, Janet and a family and the League wish to pass on our sincere condolences to them all in what most be a difficult time.
