Week ending 19th August

In the Everards Brewery Premier Division on Saturday, Aylestone Park Reserves were the top scorers, as they put Barrow Town to the sword at Riverside Park in a 6-2 win, Aaron Preston leading the way with five goals, Tawanda Mangondza scoring the other, Blake Mackness and Colby White with the second-half replies for Barrow in a one-sided contest. In terms of a 100% record, there's now only one left after just three games, and that's Desford & Caterpillar, for whom Jared Ryquist scored the only goal of the game five minutes from the end in a 1-0 win at home to Ashby Ivanhoe Knights. The other 100% record had belonged to Allexton & New Parks, but they were held to a 1-1 draw away to AFC North Kilworth, Joe Storer scoring for NK, Ryan Charles for ANP.

Knights and Barrow remain the only sides yet to pick up a point, with FC Khalsa breaking their duck in a 4-1 win at home to Friar Lane & Epworth, Sean Cheo, Balveer Heer, Kai Reece and Terell Pennant scoring for the Judgemeadow side, Josh Shenton bagging a reply for the Lane. Elsewhere, Cottesmore recorded their first win of the new term as they came from behind to win 3-1 at home to Magna 73. Fin Thomas scored early on for the visitors, but Cotts fought back in the second half thanks to a brace from Jake Culverwell and a Ewan Simmons strike, as Magna let slip a lead for the second time this week.

Although there is only one 100% record left, several sides remain unbeaten. Alongside Desford and Allexton, Ellistown maintained theirs with a 4-2 win at Hathern. Tom Vyce and Hashim Bakar both recorded braces for the visitors, with Jack McLachlan and sub Jamie Richardson scoring for Hathern, who had fought back from 2-0 to be level at 2-2 before Ellistown kicked up a gear in the final quarter for a deserved win. Two other sides remain unbeaten, Sileby Town and Highfield Rangers, both of them playing out draws on Saturday. Highfield came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw at Burbage & Huncote, Liam Pescott giving B&H the lead before Seon Shippley equalised for the visitors, whereas it was also honours even at the Pat Darby Ground between Thurnby Rangers and Sileby Town. Kyran Taylor had given Thurnby an early lead, but goals in the second half from Stan Logan and Dan Chetwynd put Sileby in charge, only for them to be denied a win in 90+4 by Talvin Shankar, 2-2 the final score.
